Dear SAP Stakeholders,
ICT’s main project this year is to convert North Star SAP database from Microsoft SQL to HANA – a new database technology from SAP offering enhanced in-memory processing.
We are now ready to kick off this Mission Critical exercise that will primarily resolve all the hanging issues and render higher level functionality with additional access through Web and Mobile for some modules such as approvals.
Please let’s convene tomorrow from 11am at the Milimani Board Rooms for a showcase of HANA’s analytical capabilities, as well as a high-level project plan presentation.
Globe Masters will demo a test instance of HANA’s Analytical functionality (Big Data processing & Business Intelligence) – showcasing enhanced visualization of reports
such as real-time cashflow.
Note that SAP versioning still remains the same (SAP Business One) with a step upgrade from version 9.1 to latest 9.3- offering minor enhancements and some new functionalities such as Project Management, Business Intelligence (Analytics), Production Routing among others.
The main change will be the transition to an Analytics database (HANA engine).
We have installed new powerful DELL servers for this, set up for High Availability (2 real-time servers in synch) and installation is ongoing.
Power issues (spikes, dirty power) that affected the Likoni Main Data Center have also been dealt with to protect this heavy investment.
Earlier in the year, ICT carried out an independent study of HANA Migration preparedness which gave an informed go-ahead towards this stage.
Findings were shared out in HOD meetings, but
More will be shared during tomorrow’s meet; please keep time.
